(USA) as N371WA, December 23, 1966. Delivery December 22, 1966. Operated by
World Airways. Registered in Pakistan as AP-AWV
for PIA, June 30, 1971. Registration N371WA cancelled on
July 1, 1971. AP-AWV survived an act of terrorism
when a bomb placed under aircraft's passenger seat exploded
at Islamabad Airport on July 5, 1975. The explosion ripped a
hole in AP-AWV fuselage. Luckily at the time incident the
Boeing 707 was on ground after completing flight from
Karachi and there were no human casualties in this incident.
Aircraft gifted to Bangladesh in 1976. Registration AP-AWV
removed from Pakistan Aircraft Register on November 8, 1976.
Registered in Bangladesh as S2-ABQ. Operated by Biman
Bangladesh Airlines. Aircraft named 'City of Bayezed
Bostami'. On April 3, 1980, S2-ABQ was operating Biman
flight from Singapore to Dhaka. During take-off, after
gaining some height, the aircraft came down and struck the
runway and slid for 2000 feet. All 9 crew members and 65
passengers survived the accident. Aircraft S2-ABQ damaged
beyond repair. Aircraft offered for sale by Omni
International Jet Trading only for spares, broken up by
April 23, 1981. |
