December 19, 1943. Middle East, January 18, 1944. Air Command
South East Asia (ACSEA), 1945. To Government of India, January 30,
1947. Registered in India as VT-CIJ for Orient Airways on February 13,
1947. Registered in India as VT-CPH in 1947 for Orient
Airways. Registration VT-CPH not taken up by Orient
Airways. Initially VT-CP* registration series starting from
registration VT-CPA from India's civil aircraft register was
reserved for aircraft to be registered in then newly
independent Pakistan. However registrations in Indian series
VT-CP* were not taken up by aircraft to be registered in
Pakistan and eventually registration of those aircraft began
in Pakistan with Pakistan's own aircraft registration
nationality mark. Registered in Pakistan as AP-AAH on October 1, 1947, for Orient
Airways. Transferred to Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) on April 1, 1955. Flown by PIA with designation
Douglas DC-3 Dakota. Aircraft sustained damage to
undercarriage at Multan on Lahore-Multan-Karachi service,
November 24, 1955. Aircraft repaired. Aircraft named "City of Jessore".
Crashed on March 26, 1965, near 9,000 feet Lowari Pass, Pakistan. Was
flying from Peshawar to Chitral with 4 crew members and 22
passengers onboard. All 4 crew members including Capt.
Mohammad Sarwar and 18 passengers
died in this accident. 4 passengers survived. AP-AAH declared write-off and removed
from Pakistan Aircraft Register on August 7, 1966. |
